Mifepristone, also know as RU486 is a method to induce a medical abortion.
Mifepristone, also known as RU486, is taken orally in a doctor's office and followed two days later by another medication called misoprostol, which causes the uterus to contract, resulting in the expulsion of the pregnancy tissue.
