Mifepristone

Call (800) 789-1764 for information.

Mifepristone is a pill that is used to initiate a medical abortion.

Mifepristone is also referred to as “The Abortion Pill.” The Abortion Pill, however, is not the same thing as the “Morning after Pill.”

Mifepristone blocks a hormone required to sustain the pregnancy. Typically it is followed two days later by another medicinal, misoprostol, to induce contractions, and the pregnancy is terminated.

Mifepristone is also know as RU486. The FDA has approved Mifepristone for use in the United States.

Mifepristone has been used extensively in France and several other countries. Over half a million woman have had a medical abortion using Mifepristone.
